How do Recycled Cotton bags differ from Standard Cotton Bags?

Both are a natural durable fibre and will be reused. Using recycled cotton makes the printed cotton bags even more sustainable, being made up of 70% recycled post-manufacture cotton and 30% recycled post-consumer waste.

The natural cotton bags made from recycled cotton do not look or perform any differently. The compromise is with the coloured cotton bags. When these are made of post manufacture and post consumer cotton waste, it is not possible to maintain exact consistency of colour from order to order. However, increasingly this more rustic look is desirable and accepted as a positive way forward. The shade of colour is slightly more ‘muted’; in addition to being more difficult to colour match from order to order. We compare it to a kraft paper bag; where lamination tends to intensify an ink colour and lock in colour & consistency. Increasingly with paper bags, consumers are favouring the more rustic and less glitzy kraft papers because they are becoming more knowledgeable and aware that this demonstrates the company they are buying from has responsible long term values. We feel sure this shift will happen with the recycled cotton bags, as we gradually educate ourselves and our customers for this to become the ‘norm’.

In April 2025 we took the proactive step to announce our long handled cotton bag range would be made entirely from recycled cotton. To find out more, contact our friendly sales team on: 01234 675101 or click here to fill in a contact form.
